How to choose a pet photo for a bead-style portrait
A small bead-style grid has less room for detail, so the shape of the face needs to remain easy to read.
Start with the face
Look for a close-up where the eyes and nose are visible. Keep wide action photos as memories and try a second, closer portrait for comparison.
Look for clear lighting
Choose a photo where important features are not hidden in shadow or washed out by glare. Dark and bright fur both benefit from separation from the background.
Simplify the background
Toys, furniture and patterned fabric can compete with the face. The tool does not remove backgrounds, so choose a quieter scene when possible.
Leave space for the square crop
Check ears, whiskers and the muzzle near the edges. Adjust framing in your usual photo editor if necessary.
